GALIFANOV

Gennady Galitovich Galifanov — Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, head of a laboratory at the Turkmen Research Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Land Reclamation, senior researcher and inventor — is the author of more than 200 scientific papers in agriculture, land reclamation, the operation of irrigation-and-drainage systems, and the protection of intellectual property.

A number of his inventions were put into practice at the time, with considerable economic benefit, across the agriculture and water management of Turkmenistan. For his achievements he was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honour (1987), the WIPO Gold Medal (2003), and many other distinctions.

After Turkmenistan gained independence, he took an active part in establishing the country's intellectual-property protection system. From 1997 to 2014, as a member of the methodological council of Turkmenpatent, he worked on drafting national legislation.
